Sports Premium Grant

At Chelford CE Primary School, we are passionate about promoting healthy, active lifestyles and providing all our pupils with opportunities to engage in high-quality physical education (PE) and sport. The Sports Premium Grant, introduced by the government in 2013, is a vital source of funding that enables us to build on our PE provision and enhance the physical wellbeing of every child in our care.

The Sports Premium is allocated to primary schools across England to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport. This funding is designed to make sustainable improvements in five key areas: increasing staff confidence and expertise in teaching PE, engaging all pupils in regular physical activity, raising the profile of PE and sport across the school, offering a broader experience of sports and physical activities, and increasing participation in competitive sport.

At Chelford CE Primary, we use this funding strategically to support a wide range of initiatives that meet the needs of our pupils. This includes hiring qualified sports coaches, upgrading equipment and resources, and offering extra-curricular clubs and competitive sports opportunities. We aim to ensure that every child, regardless of ability or background, has access to varied and enjoyable physical activities that promote fitness, teamwork, resilience, and a lifelong love of sport.

As a small rural school, we place particular importance on ensuring inclusivity and accessibility. The Sports Premium helps us provide tailored support to engage less active children, introduce new sports to broaden our pupils' horizons, and work with external providers to deliver expert-led activities.
