School Meals
Each day, pupils choose from two lunch options (including a vegetarian option) prepared by our chef Mrs Helen Booth, or bring in a packed lunch for home.
Universal Free School Meals (UFSM)
As part of UFSM arrangements, all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school lunch.
Income-related Free School Meals (IRFSM)
In addition to UFSMs, some pupils may qualify for income-related Free School Meals (IRFSM). You can claim free school meals for each child who attends school in Cheshire East if you receive one of these benefits:
- Universal Credit with no earned income or with net monthly earnings less than £616.67
- Income Support
- Income based Jobseeker's Allowance
- Income related Employment Support Allowance
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit - as long as you have a yearly household income of less than £16,190 (as assessed by HM Revenue and Customs) and do not get Working Tax Credit
- Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)
Should you suspect that your child is eligible for income-related free school meals, we would recommend that you make an application to Cheshire East Council. Not only will this ensure access to meals free of charge, but the school will be eligible for additional funding which can be used to support pupils as part of the Pupil Premium. Each year, leaders publish the amount of funding received through the Pull Premium and how this is spent: http://chelfordps.greenhousecms.co.uk/Pupil-Premium/
If your child is in receipt of income related free school meals, they are automatically eligible for the Household Support Fund.
School meal charges
From September 2024, school meals are charged at £3.20.
