Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium (PP) is allocated to children who are currently eligible for income-related free school meals (IRFSM) in mainstream and non-mainstream settings, children who at any point in the last 6 years have been eligible for IRFSM and Looked After Children (LAC). The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is an additional grant to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches students who need it most.

In making provision for pupils with PP eligibility, the school recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged. The School also recognises that not all pupils who are socially disadvantaged are registered or qualify for Pupil Premium. Therefore, the School reserves the right to allocate the Pupil Premium funding to support any pupil or groups of pupils legitimately identified as being socially disadvantaged.

Is your child eligible for pupil premium?

The following groups are eligible for pupil premium:

  • pupils who are recorded as eligible for free school meals, or have been recorded as eligible in the past 6 years, including eligible children of families who have no recourse to public funds (NRPF). See eligibility for Income Related Free School Meals (IRFSM)
  • children looked after by local authorities, referred to as looked-after children
  • children previously looked after by a local authority or other state care, referred to as previously looked-after children
