Class 2 Residential
Pupils are staff enjoyed a fantastic two days at Burwardsley this week. The residential visit provided the opportunity to develop teamwork and collaboration skills and it was great to see pupils working so well together. For many, this was the first night away from home with friends and they managed the overnight stay extremely well!
During the stay, children enjoyed taking a long walk through he forest to the top of the hill where they enjoyed learning how to make dens with branches, twigs and bracken. Upon their return to the centre and following a hearty meal, the children gathered around the campfire to toast marshmallows which they placed between chocolate digestives to make ‘smores’ - delicious.
In the morning, the team gathered at breakfast to sing Happy Birthday to Heidi, before making their way to the pond for a spot of pond-dipping. It was incredible to explore the range of species living the in water. They then enjoyed a historical workshop, developing their knowledge of the Stone Age, Iron Age and Bronze Age, enjoying the opportunity to visit a reconstructed Iron Age hut.
In all, a splendid time was enjoyed. As ever pupils’ behaviour was exemplary and we extend our grateful thanks to Mrs Jones, Mrs Jackson and Mr Norman for making the visit so enjoyable!
